Update on Tulip and Misty

Here are some quick photos of my new dolls, I am sewing up their limbs!

Little doll leg, I left part of the back open for turning it out.

Sewn doll head, and a back view of my hand stitching.

Doll leg and doll hand waiting to be turned inside out.
Before long I will be posting the first of these two dolls finished and some clothes. I think I will make Tulip a little fairy, so I will have to start designing her wings. I haven't decided what fabric to make them out of yet...

2 New Dolls: Tulip and Misty

Here's a peek at my newest dolls, I'm pretty anxious to finish them up!

Face details for Tulip and Misty.

All pieces are cut out time to sew!
I am considering making at least one of them a fairy, I don't know why but she seems to want wings. We will see how they progress. Oh and those little white triangles on their foreheads are where I will be sewing a dart.

Finished Mermaid Doll

Here are the photos of my finished mermaid doll. I think she turned out great, and I really love her peach/pink hair. I think it sets off the lime green very well.

Happy mermaid doll

I nixed the necklace idea but decided she needed a nice glittery sea star in her hair to polish off her look.

Pretty little sea star I added to her hair

I love her side fins, I've always felt that most mermaid tails are a little plain for my tastes.

The mermaid doll has a ton of hair (compared to the little vampire) and this is how I added it, thread by thread...

Now I am ready to start on the next doll, this next one will be named Tulip and she loves the rain. <3

Quick Post on the Mermaid Doll

Evening ya'll, while it isn't much I do have a photo update of my sweet mermaid doll. She is about an inch and a half taller than the vampire doll, which would make her about 9" tall. It must be the fins. I am sad to say I am not as attached to the mermaid as I was with the vampire, however there is still time. I have yet to attach her arms, shells, and her awesome peach-y pink hair. The hair takes the most time so that will probably be where the bonding happens :)

Plus I am considering adding a button shell or two as a hair embellishment, maybe even a necklace.

Mermaid doll almost finished
I really enjoy making dolls, and (kind of) wish I could make them as fast as I can imagine them...I say this only because I have so many ideas!

BTW as I finish this post I've found myself fonder of this little doll than when I started it.

Mermaid Doll Progress

The mermaid doll is coming along nicely, she is starting to form some personality. I still need to make her arms and head, and then I need to attach everything and add some hair!

Sweet mermaid doll
And of course I am already thinking about my next doll...

Finished Vampire Doll

My little vampire doll is finished, I decided not to give her shoes. I like her better without shoes, and I did make her a new dress.

I'm very please with how my first doll turned out and I am ready to move on to my next doll idea, my sweet little mermaid. I bought some peach yarn for her hair this weekend and a lovely pack of sea shells to make her a hair pin and maybe even a necklace. I'm off to go work on her now!

Sweet Little Mermaid Doll

The vampire doll's hair is almost complete and I have already cut out the pieces for my next doll! I can't wait to get started, here is a photo of the upcoming mermaid doll.

Her tail is a bright lime green and her seashells are baby pink, I think I will give her pink hair too, sorry the photo isn't so clear I was eager to share my next idea with you!  More to follow...

First Post, First Doll

Hello there my name is Annie and I am a new doll maker. In this blog I will be posting the behind the scenes work for my dolls and patterns for my Etsy shop www.sewucanpatterns.etsy.com

Fact: I am unable to sit through a horror movie and I have a fear of ghosts/spirits and yet I really love Halloween. I love all the costume possibilities, all the decor, and the parties. A couple years back I made a bat plushie, that was where my addiction to making little dolls started.

My first little doll: a sweet pink bat

Since then I have made quite a few other bats, "pop tart" style plushies, monster plushies, and even a couple dolls. Growing up I loved making paperdolls and made many, with awesome outfits, for my younger sisters. It was only a matter of time before I fell in love with sewing little dolls. So this past week I decided to make a little (7" tall) felt doll and although I have many ideas for dolls I decided to start with a Halloween themed one and made a little vampire cutie!

The excitement begged me to take a photo of how she would turn out

I eagerly drafted up a pattern, crossed my fingers and dove right into cutting and sewing. I was so excited to see how she would turn out I snapped the above photo of her with all her limbs pinned on and before all of them were stuffed.

Mostly finished vampire doll

I attached all the limbs and made her an adorable dress, one that I am not quite sure really suits her. I still want to add some hair to her and perhaps some shoes before I truly claim she is finished, but she has been brought into existence.

Look at those gleaming red eyes

Here is a close up of her face and fangs, she will be getting some hair and a new dress shortly. I already have my next doll planned, a sweet little mermaid, so come back soon! And feel free to ask any questions, I have the vampire doll pattern listed in my Etsy shop if you want to check that out.
